# Filler Stuns Szewczyk; Manas Survives Hill-Hill for Qatar Final

*The last seed standing and the last Filipino will contest Thursday's race-to-13 final for $100,000 after two gripping semi-finals in Doha.*

DOHA, Qatar — Joshua Filler and Albert James Manas will play for $100,000 and the Qatar World Cup 10-Ball title on Thursday evening after two semi-finals that ended Poland's charge at the Ezdan Palace Hotel.

Filler, the No. 5 seed and the only seeded player left in the draw, toppled world No. 1 Wojciech Szewczyk 11-9 on Table 17, while Manas survived a hill-hill decider to beat 2024 champion Daniel Maciol 11-10 on Table 16.

## Filler ends the champion's run

Szewczyk arrived at the last four having eliminated defending champion Jonas Magpantay and John Morra in a single day, chasing a second major 10-ball crown of the season. The Pole stayed with Filler deep into the match, but the German — runner-up at this event's level before — held his nerve through the closing racks to close it out 11-9.

The win sends Filler into his second ranking final in as many months and extends a Doha run that has already accounted for Oliver Szolnoki, Tobias Bongers and Miguel Salvilla.

## Manas wins the decider of the day

The afternoon's second semi-final was the tighter. Manas and Maciol traded racks all the way to 10-10 before the Filipino took the decider to win 11-10 — the closest finish of the tournament's knockout rounds so far.

Maciol's exit ends a remarkable Polish week: three Poles reached the quarter-finals and two the semi-finals, with the nation's players having knocked out the defending champion, the second seed and the world No. 1's compatriots along the way. For Manas, who beat Hsieh Chia Chen to [reach the last four](https://billiardnews.net/szewczyk-filler-maciol-manas-reach-qatar-world-cup-semi-finals), it keeps alive a run that began with seven countrymen in the last 16 — he is the only one left.

## The final

Filler and Manas return to Table 17 at 5:30 PM Doha time (14:30 UTC) for a race-to-13 final. The champion takes $100,000, the runner-up $40,000. For Manas it is a shot at a first major ranking title; for Filler, a chance to convert the form that has made him the draw's most dangerous player this week.
